Chinese Cultural Activities
To deepen the understanding of Chinese history among all students, foster respect, appreciation, and the preservation of Chinese culture, and cultivate a sense of national and ethnic identity, our school organizes various cultural activities centered around traditional Chinese festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year. These activities aim to enhance young children’s awareness of traditional culture.
During the 2023-2024 academic year, the school established a “Chinese Cultural Corner” to create an environment that encourages appreciation of Chinese culture. Through group activities and picture book stories, children learned about Chinese culture through hands-on experiences and reading, thereby nurturing their sense of national identity. In the “Chinese Cultural Corner,” traditional cooking utensils and ingredients were displayed, allowing children to explore congee, noodles, rice, and various traditional dim sum through play, as well as experience tea-drinking culture. In the architecture section, children admired the unique designs of Chinese buildings. In the art experience zone, they tried their hand at Chinese ink painting and dressed in Cantonese opera costumes while enjoying performances.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the school further deepened children’s understanding of Chinese culture. Through celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year, children engaged in joyful appreciation, ink painting, and picture book stories to learn about and appreciate traditional Chinese culture, including culinary traditions, architectural features, music, and clothing. Additionally, the school used the classic tale “Lao Lai Zi Amuses His Parents”(老萊斑衣) to teach children the importance of the traditional Chinese virtue of filial piety(孝). They learned that bringing joy to their parents is also a way to express love and filial devotion, and they put this into practice through actions and artistic expressions.
